About Banavaasi Farm

In our Food Forest we have around 30 different verities of crops that can yield every year. Ex. Coconut, arecanut, Mango, Sapota, Lemon, Banana, Drumstick, Papaaya, Crusted apple, Ramapala, Cherry, Fig, Wood apple, Black pepper, Orange, Mosambi, Amla, Tamarind, Guava, Cashew, Karawanda, All species, Star fruit, Jamoon, Ckakota, Lakky, Goranti, Glirisidiya, Subabhul, Egg Fruit, teek, gajanimbe, promogranite, coffee, neem, cardamom, etc.

In between these plants lot of space is available. Thus we grow seasonal crops like Rice, vegetables, pulses, millets, Rooty vegetables that will help us to use for our own consumption and to generate regular income. And also value added byproduct like coconut oil, chilly powder, jam, pickle, vegetables, flowers, etc.

Most importantly verities of weeds are growing abundantly in our farm. These weed plants helps us to create Humas in the soil. we consider Humas as mother of nutrient. It delivers nutritious food for the plants and microbes. And also it help to increased resistance power to the soil, it helps to increased moisture holding capacity in the soil. this leads to increase the ground water level. with all these activates soil carbon percentage to above 3%.

For pest and incest management, we will prepare our own pesticides by using cow urine, neem leafs, Lantana leafs, Parthenium, touch me not and some weeds. This Kasaya (pesticide) has helped us to control wilt, worms, virus, stem disease, etc.
